Scott: The only Peter Lynch quote I remember was something about only buying companies that a fool could run, because sooner or later one will. Novell comes to mind, but that's a whole 'nuther topic. The reason I read your initial post was because I absolutely believe in a diversified portfolio. Other than Foodmaker, I haven't really considered restaurants recently (I wish I had bought into it, but didn't). The one question I pose to myself monthly is: What specific industry has no appeal and then try to find a company to invest in. Last month it was apparel mfg (I bought); the month before it was drugs (I passed, although Ivax was appealing). Sooo... restaurants, huh? Rgds, Paul.
