Thoughts from the dawg:

A working mans view of todays economy.
As most of you may or may not know I currently work at my local Steel Plant in the construction
department. Today I was given some bad news although it was not unexpected. We were given
the news that we will be getting laid-off. Our steel plant , because of the foreign markets dumping
huge amounts of steel in the United States is unable to maintain its workforce. These foreign markets
are dumping tons of steel in the U.S. at prices that we can't even make steel at. As a tax paying citizen
I was to the understanding that we had a fair trade agreement with the rest of the world. That is until
they cant maintain their own economy so they dump what they can't sell at prices which we cant meet.

Also today in my local town of Gadsden, Al. the news came out that our local Goodyear plant will be
closing. This plant is a long-time fixture of our community and is a economic necessity to our area.
Goodyear will be shipping these jobs over-seas where the pay is much less. Never mind that the American
worker will be the ones that will be buying the tires which they produce. Plain fact is the other countries
are in such bad shape that it will sooner or later effect the United States. I don't know about all of the
indicators and the charts that say different. I do know that each and every person in my home town
is and will be effected by the worlds economy. The industries in this country have decided to forget the
American worker which has helped each and every industry become a world leader.

The economy of America may be in good shape today but if the industries in this country don't start
thinking about the American worker it will soon be the down fall of this great country.
