Philip,
I know a little bit about each. AFFX has huge potential if the chips work as advertised. Lots of good partners on them. It will be a fascinating company to follow. The market value here is quite high, although I profess to not understanding the whole story and if they will make money outside of chips, perhaps in diagnostics, or if they will get royalties on any downstream products or not. Otherwise thats a lot of chips they're going to have to sell. AFFX is 30% owned by Glaxo so you do have a UL tie with them.

I own a little bit of MDLI. Bought at $21 a week or so ago, during the pullback after its sharp rise on eps. Seems to be a good little company. I'm looking for at least $30, if not more this year. If they can show a quarter or two of continued growth it should be well within reach. A nice little niche in the biotech sector thats not tied to specific drugs, kind of a backdoor way to play the biotech sector-same as AFFX.

Hope this helps.
