Ron, yes, flash memory is more durable than a floppy, but I think it will be a long time before flash cards are widely used as a floppy replacement. As of Dec, a 20 MB PCMCIA flash card was over $400 from one of SanDisk's authorized resellers, and I think a 2 MB card was $50 (I may be wrong about that, but the scaling looks right). IMHO, not a very good replacement for a $0.00 (if you use AOL brand) floppy. Prices will have to get a LOT lower, they are already 40 X what the n.hand disk is projected to cost.

BTW, I want to congratulate you for obviously getting the FIRST Compaq computer "20 years ago," since the IBM PC didn't come out until 16 years ago, and Compaq was not incorporated until 1983 (I think).

Lighten up! That was a joke! I know you meant "many moons ago," and, yes, I agree that prices have come down not dramatically, but miraculously so. I hope things continue this way.
