LG, I use the 10 day trin only because Decision Point says its the one most commonly used. IMHO, part of the reason TA works is because the big boys use it (somewhat self-fulfilling) so I like to be on the same page !!.

In a strong market, for use as a reliable intraday (long) indicator, I like the trin to be trending below -65. If it is much below -55, and the tick turns negative it usually means the selling pressure is minimal and its an opportunity to buy. I only use it for the general market, along with the index support/resistance levels, and use short term fundamentals (these days, often news, as it seems to be an event driven market) for individual stocks. It sounds like Gersh might be able to enlighten us on how best it might be applied for use with individual stocks.

I should add, I keep only short term positions these days, and don't even have an investment portfolio. Despite the tax implications, I sleep better (GG)

Regards

Stephen
