Tulcio, Scrapps said it here.... x2 is the stepping stone allowing time for the telco's to gear up, many are already working at it. The telcos are the stumbling block. They don't want to invest in refitting the COs until it's cost effective. They don't have to do anything for x2 to deploy, since it uses existing equipment. High-bandwidth technology, on the other hand, requires new investment by the telcos. The TI chip just raised the price/performance bar for the core of digital signal processing. I still say '98-99 at soonest for widespread xDSL. David
