sure there is a security risk!

now you are playing dumb.

All you have to do is log IPs and thats enough to do whatever damage you want.

If the IP isn't protected by an adequate defense you can literally view all of the source files at that IP.

here is a simple page I wrote a year ago: geocities.com in netscape watch what it does. Luckily geocities doesn't let me store the info into a file, so its no harm done.

But you own your website. You can store what you want into a file.

SI should take serious note about this problem. Walking onto other people's IPs to sniff out files is probably very illegal and I would say it is unethical.

I don't know that you did, but you could easily do it.

so don't play dumb about saying there is no security risk. The risk is quite huge. Why should we trust your site? What is there that would give us confidence it isn't really a hacking site where a team of people are collecting information and reselling it?

How would I know you didn't copy my proprietary trade secrets onto your computer? I wouldn't, thats the point.

The risk is great. SI as a minimum should warn us we are being moved off of SI. The mere idea that you wanted everyone to think they were at SI is enough suspect for me to think you might be up to criminal activities. But I have no proof cause I don't have access to your machine. But I would be careful. If someone thinks their computer was compromised, you might have the police knocking on your door.
