David, I mentioned to you that I was looking for (2 weeks) a Brazil business chat line on mIRC. Last week, I was able to find one used by BRAZIL business men.

I was told, about a land sale which took place several weeks ago where 12,000+ acres was sold located about 150 miles from Madera and about 20 miles from the river. Know one knows what the land looks like other than it was sold for $139 per acre at the time. The land could be high land or low land w/a tree or w/o trees. This price is above average.

I have been holding this information, waiting for another small land deal which could be going on right now. I do not expect the land to bring much because it banks the Amazon river. You may have to be a fish to love it. The land is in the rainforest also but no where near the Madera land.

Settlement land sold by the Brazil gov is being sold everywhere in small 25 acre plots. This is a fixed price offer, off set by international aid groups. I call it propaganda sales to make Brazil look good when dealing with the landless people over there. In 1998, landless people has become a big issue.

I am still waiting for a Brazil price list which gives the price wood cutters pay the Brazil gov for logs cut. There is much room for negotiation here between the pocket and the Gov so it is said. One can become very rich fronting the Brazil gov in this area.
