I'm an extremely smalltime investor who doesn't have a whole lot to invest. I work with computers so I've built my base around Microsoft (software), Intel (hardware), and Cisco (network hardware).

I only wish I'd have bought some DELL stock the first time I pulled one out of a box and some USRX stock the first time I had to put a 14.4k modem in a PC.

My interest in investing lies in companies with products and ideas that will change the way we do business and live our lives.

Like....the Internet.

I like QWST for two reasons: 1) They're building a network along a non-traditional path (RR tracks vs. roads) and 2) Their management team has a group of guys who have left the stodgy telcos and have a "we're going to do it the right way this time" attitude.

Although my reasoning is somewhat faulty, it makes life interesting.

Construction costs are high and profits are low. Once the network is complete, construction costs will go down and profits up.

We are in on this stock before it has become a household name - a definite plus.
