Maurice: I believe there has been some discussion on one of these threads about I* migrating to some form of CDMA with their second generation. Recently, I* has definately stated that their second generation constellation will be light years ahead of the first in every way. Finally, Ed Staiano has said many times that the prices charges will dramatically decrease very quickly. I assume that prices will show further large decreases once the second generation constellation is up and running. I agree with you in that I* prices are too rich for my pauper's blood. However, I also realize that there are huge numbers of individuals that hold their time at rather high values. The claim of "truly worldwide coverage", which only Iridium can state, is important to these individuals. IMHO and which apparently a large number of studies back up, there will be enough of these individuals to carry I* through to a point at which prices will have fallen enough for the average consumer. The only obstacle at this point, and it is obviously a huge one, is getting Motorola and Kyocera up to speed on handset quality and quantity.

Good luck to all!
