Neil,
This is an interesting characterization:
"So far, the group comprises companies that have strong relationships with EMC, including Hewlett-Packard Co.'s storage division, Ancor Communications Inc., Gadzoox Networks, Vixel Corp., Emulex Corp., G2 Networks Inc., JNI, Legato Systems Inc., McDATA Corp., Qlogic Corp. and Veritas Software Corp. "
I didn't know that Ancor did have a strong relationship and I thought that Brocade would have had. Inquiring minds want to know. Roy, I see G2 is on the list. Can you add any insight?
Brocade was supplying ASICs to McData, but the FibreAlliance SAN management issues would not affect the design of the ASIC would it? Would EMC be sourcing switches from both McData and Ancor?
"FibreAlliance-based products could be available by as soon as April and no later than June, according to Don Swatik, vice president of product management at EMC in Hopkinton, Mass. "
I can wait 'till then.
It's hard for me to find a dark cloud in any of this.
