BAT International's subsidiary, SSPC, continues to develop their
electric power generation project in the San Ysidro/Otay Mesa area.
One generator facility will provide about 8 megawatts of power, and the second will provide about six megawatts.

BAT International's subsidiary, Electrobike is converting the old
brewery area in Los Angeles into a facility for receiving, inspecting, and testing the electric bicycles. It is expected that the facility will
employ about 30 people when it is finished. My friend knows Marcus Hayes, and has ridden the Jazz electric bicycle recently. He liked it,
remarking that the bicycle accelerated smoothly away from a stop.
Marcus Hayes previously worked on advertising for Marlboro, and has
a talent for taking a project from concept stage to production and distribution. Hayes has developed two dealer package arrangements
and a battery exchange display where owners can exchange their
discharged batteries for fresh batteries. Owners can also buy t-shirts,
baseball caps, and sunglasses with the Miripolsky-designed griffon
logo from the display rack. A Florida entrepreneur who owns several
Domino's Pizza franchises wants to purchase the Electrobike franchise for the entire state of Florida. Electrobike also plans to start
building two electric mopeds based upon Marcus Hayes' designs
in late 1999 or 2000.
