The January Nature Biotechnology has a note (p. 9) on oocyte gene transfer by a company called Gala Design, U of Wisconsin, Madison, and U of California, San Diego. The technique "may have extensive applications in generating transgenic animals." Later it mentions that the "company plans to focus initially on expressing novel proteins in transgenic cows' milk."

Reference to a report on the work in PNAS (95:14028, 1998).
