I do not understand the logic for a Y2K slowdown. Was the thinking that companies would not buy computer equipment until after the new year because they fear equipment bought in 1999 would fail at the new year?

Z has the right idea. We recently saw predicted unit growth of 25% in 1999. These conflicting analyst reports give us nothing solid to go on. We need solid facts instead of unqualified statements.

Dataquist has released predictions for the coming year during March for the past two years. Maybe they will give predictions and qualify them next month.

Sam's method of "sell on Memorial Day, buy on Labor Day" is great because it ignores unqualified predictions. He only uses his personal observation and the historical facts of annual buying cycles. His method should be right most years unless annual buying cycles change or analysts start copying his plan and drive the prices down in May.
