In the Spin Off info received from PeopleSoft it states that: The recipient's initial basis (for income tax purposes) in the distributed MMTM shares will be the fair market value of such shares at the time of the Distribution. Upon sale you will have a taxable gain or loss equal to the difference. MMTM closed at 17 1/4.

What is the fair market value? opened at $10.

According to PSFT's investor relations page (http://www.peoplesoft.com/en/corporate_info/investor_relations/) the FMV is equal to the average of the high and low trading price of the stock on opening day, 1/19. Anyone have this data? Eyeballing a chart suggests the high was 25 1/2 and the low 8 for a FMV of 16 3/4.
