Let me get this straight. They're going for the cost effective market, and not for the performance market? There's 3 possible places where they can fit in:

1) High performance -- It doesn't sound like the S4 fits in this category.

2) Very cheap with good performance -- It doesn't fit in this category either. It's much too expensive. ATI dominates this market.

3) Mid price with decent performance -- Hmm. It'll be hard to compete against TNT2, ATI's new chip, Permedia3, and others when they will be offering their chips at the same price with much better performance. Much as S3 is offering a low end version for $25, so will ATI and nVidia and 3Dfx and the others. Not only will they cost the same as the S4, they'll outperform it.

So tell me again where the Savage4 fits in?
