My take on this is that the design fix late last year to fix the speed yield problems of K6-2 backfired. It introduced a catastrophy that rendered the majority of wafers useless. Now, AMD engineers are just discovering that because it takes weeks to fabricate a wafer. One tiny mistake you could lose hundred of millions or even billions. HOPEFULLY, THE FIX TO FIX THE LAST FIX WOULD HAVE A BETTER LUCK IN A MONTH OR TWO FROM NOW. THE WHOLE EPISODE MAY REPEAT ITSELF. History always does. Just ask any Time Traveler.
