I thank you very much for your responses to my questions. I am compiling some competitive material and was planning to do it for another group, but I will be doing it for a Research analyst at a major financial institution now.

He wants to research the market opportunities for rich media tool developers and know who all the players are. Right now he says it is Macromedia as the first standard player, Narrative in service, and the agile little Totally Hip in innovation of QT tools, and a few other minor bit players.

Thanks again John. Don't worry, I won't quote you. I just wanted to know if using some of the information in a report was okay. I have done a considerable amount on my own and your information confirms it, as do my queries to others that are knowledgable on the subject.

One other question and you don't have to answer if you don't want.

What if Adobe or Quark were to acquire a company like Totally Hip? Would that not be positive for spreading the word about rich media and also benefit Macromedia? Some believe that for Macromedia to be taken more seriously by analysts and the market, there needs to be some serious competition to drive market demand for rich media. It's seems to be just Macromedia and then a few smaller players like THW.

Comments?

On another note. I couldn't get the Narrative Enliven stuff to work on two of my PCs and not at all on my Mac G3 with Internet Explorer 4.5. Not to user friendly.
