Point taken. However, I have to wonder how many of the decades-old copper pairs buried under NYC are up to the job. Remember, the idea is high-speed residential access. Then you have to consider the sprawling sunbelt cities - L.A, Dan Diego, Phoenix, Vegas, Houston (over 600 square miles), Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Atlanta, various in Florida, etc. - there are a lot of residences outside the 1 mile radius. I would guestimate that the number is not nearly as severe with a 15,000 - 18,000 foot radius.
Another point: It's going to be tough enough to get the telopoly to open up their wallets to putting equipment in their nice secure CO's. I'm wondering how eager they'll be to putting it curbside all over the place.
We'll get there, but I suppose it'll be later rather than sooner for many of us. |
