Ericsson (ERICY) expects first deliveries of its T28 cellular phones by mid-1999, with large-volume shipments occurring in the fourth quarter. Speaking at the NationsBanc Montgomery Securities tech conference in San Francisco, Ericsson Americas President Bo Dimert said the company's fourth quarter mass shipment target is "cautious," however, and that large volume deliveries could happen earlier. The phones feature voice activation that lets consumers dial, answer, reject or end calls via voice command, and they allow for two numbers on one phone. The new T28 phones will be priced at the "high end," Dimert said.
