ISSAQUAH, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 1999--Costco Companies, Inc. (Nasdaq:COST -news) today reported net sales of $1.84 billion for the four weeks ended January 31, 1999, an increase of 15 percent from $1.60 billion in the same four-week period of the prior fiscal year. On a comparable warehouse basis, that is warehouses open at least a year, sales increased 11 percent.

For the first twenty-two weeks of its 1999 fiscal year ended January 31, 1999, the Company reported net sales of $11.43 billion, an increase of 12 percent from $10.19 billion during the first twenty-two weeks of the prior fiscal year. Comparable warehouse sales for this year-to-date period increased 9 percent over the prior year's level.
