To all: Today we bought the brokerages. And it mattered not that they have ever made a nickle or that the company was still in business. Today, all that mattered was momentum. And the brokerages were wild.
I see this week as a sort of failure, however. This thread is about predicting the trends and sector movements. We should have seen this second tier group as having great potential, the minute that Etrade and Ameritrade were moving up.
I apologize for having been stunned on perfume. I should have been able to see the bigger picture quicker and got us into the 2nd and 3rd tier brokerages like shooting fish in a barrel.
And that is what alerts are for. . .anyone can and should alert the thread to major trends, events, sector movements or the like. Yeah, we made some serious money on the brokerages, but we could have done far better working more as a team. That is what we are looking for here. Team players.
I know there will be lurkers. . .but those able to post should help the rest of us. Instead of asking, "what do you think about WXYZ?" Say:
"WXYZ 3rd tier online brokerage with 800k float. . . currently 500k traded today. . .30day avg is 22k. . .now up 45 percent. . .SI full-text search showed no discussion today, Trader J discussion last week...ran 20 percent on a daytrade last week on 100k vol. . .company is introducing a new type of online brokerage that combines level II with CNBC and trade station with single click ordering. . .launch date to be within 60 days. . .financials suck. . .lost 2 mil on revs of 4 mil. . .my take is that the online brokerage is a last ditch effort to save the company. . .but the timing is great. . my target is +150pct based on current mania . .IR says news has been released and should be coming out within the hour. . .major portal deal has been discussed in the past and is expected to be announced soon. What do you think?"
Now that is the sort of info that we ALL can INSTANTLY digest. From that we have a clear picture of what is going on.
For William or I to stop what we do best [picking stocks], to go look up data on your stocks, hurts the team. If I did nothing but answer questions all day, I would still not be caught up by the closing bell.
We are looking for sector appropriate low float stocks that could rise 100+ percent on days like this...that have great news or a great story. If you have a stock on a big speculative day that might see +20 pct because the float is 32 million, keep it for that evening before discussing. This is just common sense folks.
Please post all OTC on the fishing thread. They are a distraction. If we are playing a momo and you find ANY info posted by shorts, disclosing their plans. . .post it. Don't be worried about hurting the momentum and don't think that a PM is necessary. If we are all playing a stock, then we should all know what is being said or done with it.
Monitoring the popular chat rooms, or other is helpful. Posting what you know is likewise helpful. We don't need periodic quotes here, but alerts to turnarounds or sudden volume or news is VERY helpful. When possible, always try to include links to news or other important information.
Together we can do what none of us can do alone.
