Because of 1) Less brittleness 2) More versatility in materials 3) higher accuracy than the actua in its niche 4) Dominant market share/brand recognition in its niche

It seems to me that SSYS clearly has a better product in its niche now. So the key question, then, is whether or not it can stay ahead technologically and keep its niche. It seems to me that if TDSC is truly going to improve their Actua so that it can have more materials, be a little more accurate, then both companies would be forced to lower prices in competition, and then SSYS's earnings would sink a lot. Everyone agree?

Also...Statasys makes some claims of technical superiority in their 10-Q. Is this a big advantage or not?

The Company(SSYS) believes that there is currently no
other commercial producer of three-dimensional modeling devices that uses a single-step, non-toxic technology similar to the Company's FDM(R) and Genisys(TM) technologies. All other plastic model systems involve an additional post-processing step, such as curing the part after construction of the model or prototype.
