And I'll add my two cents... The current MIB "funky language" is a "dialect" of SNMP. The modified MIB will "speak" NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol), deliverable sometime this spring. EMC is the lead gorilla in this storage management alliance because they have a huge stake in the development of their own standards platform and don't want to be left standing all alone. They think it's pretty good stuff, and they are attempting to ensure that their stuff works with THE Stuff. The Alliance vendors are saying "Sure, big fella, whatever MIBs you want, let's just get our little piggies to market asap." It's all about profit and politics, which is good for us 'cause we got little piggies of our own. Douglas
