********OFF TOPIC**********
Hi Eric, Now that's malarkey...and you know it! Not surprising, though, that you Easterners, especially people from Hogtown, with their closet envy of B.C., with our beautiful snowcapped mountains, towering forests, and a myriad of placid lakes, (just waiting for a trout fisherman, oops! should that be fishperson?) and steelhead in the Island rivers and the big beautiful ocean. How about salmon fishing(if the gov't doesn't close it all down with their mismanagement that is, for sports fisher man/woman/person)? (Oh, to hell with political correctness) Or how about kayaking at sunset, or cruise around the ocean into the beautiful bays and quiet beaches around the Gulf Islands, or the many beautiful bays around the Island, or the Sunshine Coast. How about whale-watching off Tofino? How about a day cruise across the Juan de Fuca Strait to the Olympic Mountains? How about camping on the oceanfront, or under a glade of forest giants? How about a hike in the forest, or on a Mountain trail? How about skiing at Whistler, which has the best skiing on the North American Continent? or Mt. Arrowsmith on the Island. Eat your heart out, Eric.
This is where people know how to get the most out of life, and enjoy the best that God created. This is what's really important! Nature, fresh air, and all the outdoor sports you can handle. Who needs a fancy restaurant(even though, contrary to what you say, we have many fine restaurants) when you can pack a lunch, a few cool ones, or a bottle of wine, and go out into this kind of Paradise, anyway?
Torawwnabe, on the other hand, puts all their emphasis on "getting ahead," bigger houses, bigger cars, a cottage at the lake, which they get to use a few weeks out of the year. Appointments with their analysts, psychiatrists and... Say, it sounds like the song from the early 70's? "Take Care of Business, Mr. Businessman." Can't remember the words right now, but you get the drift. No time to smell the flowers!
My son married a girl from the East, and it took him several years to teach her how to appreciate the lifestyle of the West Coast, where we do things differently. We take the time to smell the flowers! Easterners call us Lotus Landers and we love it. If you ever notice though, they love to come out here to retire, just because it's so much warmer. The flowers start to come up in February at the latest, instead of late April or May, like they do down there..In Victoria this winter we had a sprinkling of snow for one day and that was our winter. Just gotta love it! Do you get the idea that I love this place?? Fancy restaurants???? Pshawwwwwwwww! We got 'em but who cares? Who needs them? :-))
Cheers from the Pit
