Misonix says Mentor wins suit

FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Feb 5 (Reuters) - Misonix Inc. said on Friday that a jury found in favor of Mentor Corp. in a patent lawsuit.
Misonix, which makes ultrasonic and air pollution systems, said a jury in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles found Misonix infringed a patent licensed to Mentor. Damages will be awarded over the next two weeks, Misonix said.
Misonix said it is contesting the decision, arguing the patent was invalid and unenforceable.
Misonix said the jury also ruled against LySonix Inc. and its unit, Medical Device Alliance.
Mentor alleged patent infringement regarding the LySonix 2000 Ultrasonic Soft Tissue Aspirator, a liposuction device.
Medical Device Alliance and LySonix were originally named in the patent case, and later the suit was amended to include Misonix. |
