OT Capital Gains Taxes Do you know we are the ONLY industrial nation with capital gains taxes? That's not true. Most industrial nations have capital gains taxes, and since US lowered it to the 18-20% range, we're pretty much around average. UK is 20%. Japan is lower. The only country I can think of with exemptions from capital gains is Germany. It's a matter of equity, though. Why should people who live off stock trading pay no taxes or lower taxes than those who earn it the old fashioned way? Doughboy.
