The Vancouver Sun reports in its Tuesday edition that the promoters behind Sungold Gaming, a Vancouver Stock Exchange company whose stock has soared on the basis of two multi-million-dollar casino projects in South Korea, have a history of wild stock promotions. Reporter David Baines says that during his decade-long career on Howe Street, Sungold president Hans Banziger has promoted projects as diverse as an AIDS treatment, a baby pacifier and a device for calculating golf handicaps. Co-director David Valpy has also been involved in a string of dicey stock promotions, including Technigen's computerized golfing
machine, which caught the attention of local securities regulators. In addition, Kim Hart, who Sungold has hired to promote its stock, was instrumental in touting Goldrush Casino & Mining, another would-be gaming company that promised, but never delivered, a hotel-casino project in Colorado. Mr Hart says that Sungold is a very conservative company, believe it or not. He says that it is just the beginning, as Sungold is a virgin. Mr Banziger denies that Sungold is merely a stock promotion, despite what some people say. |
