edamo, disagree. i could have been more clear. weaker demand relative to supply.

the low cost producer can still be profitable while everyone else is losing money. however, the game isn't to make others lose money. the game is to maximize profits.

micron was a great example. back when dram was in short supply relative to demand, they raised prices while lowering costs.

why? supply and demand. the fact they were more efficient had NOTHING to do with it. why did they lose money last year? supply and demand.

dram is more technical than slapping together a box. your argument fails the practical test.
