Gottfried, Very interesting direction the thread discussion is going regarding the "free PC appliance". Attended the IDEMA dinner meeting last night and listened to Todd Bakar (H&Q) give his annual analyst view of the disk drive industry. He too mentioned that he expects the AOL's of the world to give the "appliance" away that would connect to the Internet but keep the monthly connect revenues. He felt they will soon adopt the cellular phone marketing approach - give the phone away but get you on the connect time. Of possible note to followers of this thread, one of this predictions for 1999 was that "one drive manufacturer will suffer serious pain". His reference was to WD. With this kind of enthusiasm for WD, I hope that Stitch hasn't covered his short yet like I did some time ago. Regards, LT
