Your right Shirley, BC is a beautiful province.
But you forgot to tell everyone about the wonderful rain that never stops for 6-7 months of the year. So much rain that I bet if you walk on your front lawn you'd sink past your ankles in mud. Never ending gloomy depressing days that go on and on and on. I'll take a cold sunny day on a snowmobile anytime.
Yes and the great salmon fishing....Sorry....you mean the OK salmon fishing. It was great 20 years ago, not today and your right the government has mismanaged it but its the flower smelling inhabitants that dump their city sludge into their beautiful ocean. Look at Saanich Inlet...once teaming with slabs and cohos heading to the goldstream to spawn. Not now, Just a few Chum and pinks and their numbers are dropping. Oh yes the steelhead, most places on the island its not legal to take one home for dinner anymore because their numbers also are getting dangerously low.
Shirley please don't forget political correctness!! Especially around here, you could end up in big trouble. Human rights you know.
But your right, this is where people know how to get the most out of life, That is if the most you want, is to play golf in the rain, put on a long flowing dress, let your hair turn naturally gray, buy a dump on Saltspring and make belts, candles or Christmas decorations. What about, god forbid, those who would like a big home, (crime?)a nice car(criminal?) or a cottage on a beautiful Ontario lake to take the wife and kids (out of touch with reality) for a few weeks out of the year.(a few weeks in summer + a few weeks in winter = 52 wks. whats the problem?) Unfortunatly they have to leave BC and move to Alberta or Ontario because the government here is so anti business that its not really worthwhile to have one here. Red tape, taxes, huge labour costs, government backed unions, 3-6 months vs three days in Alberta to get an exploration licence, mines and claims expropriated to make you another park so far in the bush that you'll never get there, forest industries decimated by taxation and ever decreasing areas to cut, not because they aren't managing their forests but to placate a bunch of unemployed shrubs who think that all one really needs in life is a couple of goats and a tar paper shack on Sombrio beach.
It is a good thing we have the easterners taking care of business,(and your stocks) if we left it up to British Columbians we'd be in big, big trouble.
I always get a chuckle when British Columbians complain that Ottawa doesn't take them seriously. I mean how can they?? The province is in a financial shambles, yet they can give native groups billions of dollars then spend 5 million advertising the fact. They get in the boat building business and don't realize they signed an open ended contract that puts them 190 million over what they had budgeted and the first ship is rusting out before its finished. All the while they say the have no money so they let your health care drop into the dumpster. The court has the country in an uproar because some judge threw a kiddi porn case out because its against some pedophiles rights. The government gets caught stealing charity money and using it for their election campaign...and they get re-elected. Go figure.
How can anyone take Glen Clark seriously....its like sitting at the table with Bozo the clown and trying not to laugh.
Yes Shirley God did make this a beautiful place and its the "Lotus Landers that are doing such a great job of looking after it.
