Marty,

It really irritates me that people seem to think it's the customer who is expected to have back up brokers! E*trade is the one who needs to have back-up systems in place, NOT us as customers.

The focus and attention needs to be on their lack of back-up systems. It is the broker who has the responsibility to be available, and to receive and process orders in a timely manner. Thier posting a message to the effect that "service is unavailable" is simply not acceptable.
