Mike,

I agree completely with your message. This was just my point the other day when I said I buy cold remedies without requiring that the results of some study be posted on the shelf next to the product. I read the label and if it says "cuts the duration of the common cold", I will try it. If it doesn't work, I just won't buy it again. Like you say, this isn't rocket science LOL.

By the time the study results for Zicam are published in a medical journal, if at all, the price of GUMM will be significantly higher if Zicam wins in the marketplace. I agree with Bengalus that publication would provide free advertising, but the only other use for it would be in Zicam's advertising campaign. It would be nice to say, "as published in the NEJM, Zicam was shown to cut the duration and symptoms of the common cold to 1.5 days"...blah blah blah. Other than that, I think publication is a nonissue.
