U. S. Energy Secretary in Saudi Arabia

I was looking for feedback on the U.S. Engery Secretary's visit to Saudi Arabia to negotiate on behalf of U.S. major integrateds to partner with Saudi Arabia in extracting oil and gas more efficiently there.

I forgot where I read/heard it, but I remember someone saying that Saudi Arabia uses this as a threat to non-compliant OPEC members. The theory is that they could grab more of the market if they wanted to by becoming more efficient and producing more. This would make other areas of exploration seem less attractive, e.g., fault lines in the Andes mountains of Columbia. The article even stated that one of their goals in partnering with large U.S. firms would be to divert some of their exploration dollars from other parts of the world.

Is Harken still as attractive as we think? Or is too much of a pain in the butt in this environment to deal with all the obstacles they face when there are easy pickins in Saudi Arabia. And maybe still this will make Columbia more motivated attract partners with better terms. Your thoughts always welcome.
