Chris,

The new TI DSP will for sure help lower the cost of xDSL modems, but that (xDSL) is the problem. How much $$ per month are the masses willing to pay for high bandwith? I currently pay $70 per month for ISDN, not including ISP monthly charges (in which my ISP is currently not charging me) which normally run from $30 up. The $70 per month gets me 200 hours without any per minute charges but I'll tell you every month when I get the bill I ask myself if it's really worth it.
My teenage son loves it, but as yet he is not helping to pay the bill.

The point I want to make is that xDSL is a ways off unless the RBOC's charge substantially less than what I pay for ISDN and that is not going to happen very quickly. I like ISDN and dream about xDSL but when pathetic corporations like US West are the ones who will be installing your new xDSL service I must say "that'll be the day".

x2 is poised and ready to strike and the masses can afford it.

Regards,
Derek
