I'm particularly interested in the theory about where the average short position is established and how this may affect trading in GUMM.

Good question. One thing is certain. For those who shorted higher, they had the chance to close the position in the 6 range as late as December...I have a feeling they will reminisce and second guess those days. I seriously doubt they will be revisited!

My experience has time and again told me that shorting when there is a shortage of available stock is a loser's game. I watched it happen recently on the AMZN thread. The marketplace will determine valuations but it gets plenty of help from untimely shorts in a small float.

I am certain that, since the short interest has been in the 900k range since GUMM's first visit to 16...That a number of shorters remain in the black for the time being. Of course, they have little to show for their short and should be feeling tight in the collar about now.

If experience tells us anything, they will continue to doubt as the stock climbs to 24 and beyond until the day their broker says "you have a margin call"...

Someday they will buy my $10 stock back at quite a multiple.

:o)

Mike
