A story is told, possibly apocryphal, but I suspect true, that, with respect to the federal government forcing integration on Louisiana, Earl Long (Huey's younger brother, who was then governor) said to Leander Perez, the notorious "boss" of Plaquemines Parish, "Well, Leander, what are you gonna do?
