What you are missing here is FAITH! When Intel bankrupts AMD because it dropped prices on its Celeron so low that AMD went belly-up competing in the game, our Justice Department will slap Intel and all its fabs in irons. Guess who's left with its WinChip to supply that huge market. It's either that or Michael Murphy is smoking dope, and you can take your pick.
Seriously, IDTI has diversified into other areas than SRAM(which is going to be hurt more than a bit by the inclusion of cache SRAM on board the microprocessor die), principally communication circuits, FIFOs, programmable logic with Clear Logic, and different specialty circuits. When, not if, the semiconductor industry recovers, IDTI should do all right. Unfortunately, it will take time. At least, IDTI rose a whole eighth of a point today, when many technology stocks fell significantly. Those traders among you who expect your stock to rise 30% a month better stick to internet equities and watch their momentum each fifteen nanoseconds. Though it looks easy from the outside, semiconductors have proved to be a tough business for everyone who has worked in it. I've been there, and am perhaps more tolerant than those who have not. |
