The under 1,000.00 soil is the tuffest ground to hold. It's trench life, and I got to tell you I like General Gerry Sanders in the trenches. Anyone who has ever made marketing decisons knows droping prices below your competitor is an admission of weekness not strenght. Barett has comitted a strategic error, a costly error, temporary descructive to both sides as indicated by the price declines in both intel and amd. Barett's decision is politicaly unpopular, he will come under criticism, from goverment, and stockholders alike. AMd lacking in credibility has nothing further to loose and can only advance in regaining credibility. Sanders five year plan was to position AMD to produce 20 to 30 million chips @ asp $50.00. He seem to be better positioned in the trenches than Barret who appears to be looking for the trench...more
