Is this a zero-sum game where one compression standard dominates & all others must conform?

I'm expecting big things from several small firms working on compression technologies. This is a very interesting subject because software solutions can be much more rapidly deployed than laying down cable and last-mile solutions.

Regarding LIGOS do they have any work on MPEG 3?
Will they IPO?
