Online brokers face probe by New York

The Attorney General of New York said he will investigate the
online brokerage industry. Eliot Spitzer said his office has
received consumers' complaints that they lost hundreds of
thousands of dollars when online trades were not processed.
Spitzer said he has sent letters to several online firms asking
for information about their services. "The public knows there are
always risks in investing in the stock market," he said. "But part
of that risk should not include questions about whether trades
will be executed promptly."
