Gates Filed To Sell 1.5 Million More Microsoft Shares

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Bill Gates, co-founder of software giant Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) plans to
sell 1.5 million common shares of the software giant, according to a recent regulatory document.

In a Feb. 1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Gates, chief executive of the Redmond, Wash.,
company, said he planned to sell the shares with a market value of $234.4 million about Jan. 25.

Gates's sale would be through Ragen MacKenzie (NYSE:RMG - news) of Seattle. Gates and the William H. Gates Foundation have sold
a total of 15,320,000 common shares from Oct. 26, 1998 through Jan. 22, 1999, according to the filing.

Microsoft has characterized previous Gates sales as a routine part of portfolio diversification.
