Please, do not get me started with WebAmerica!!!!! They are the source of some of the most frustrating experiences of my life. 'NUFF SAID!!! If you are wondering how I fixed the online dilemma, I just opened my local yellow pages and local computer magazines in my area. Using a local provider, when you find a good one like I did, can be very nice. If there is a problem and it is not fixed right away you just take a little drive to their office and discuss it with them. I have never had any ugly outages or problems, not that there have not been off-line times or problems, but they have been very, very few and my average connect speed is 50,666. I'm a happy camper. I also have one of the free backups (www.netzero.net), with whom I can connect at about 31,200. I realize that the local ISP can be limiting at times, but I have had several (because I have moved around) and have never had the problems and horror stories I hear about from the big guys. Hey, I've also had bad locals, but guess what, it's called "No service, no money." I'm not calling some telephone tech support person who may or may not be able to fix my problem. Sometimes the tech support person is powerless to take care of the problem, I found that out first hand.
Hey, this is a bit rambling, I know, but it seems to get the point across.
The only change I see in the future is to switch to cable modem service when it comes to my area. |
