Latest issue of Computer Retail Week (Feb 1/99) summerizes sales of 3COM palmtop as follows (page 3):

1. According to PC data, Reston, VA - Palm III outsold all Windows CE devices by a ratio of 5-1 and 3-1 in revenues.
Casio and Everex which started shipping their CE based devices in June/98 are losing out to 3COM.

2. Growth exists in CE devices but consumer still prefers palm pilot.

3. Windows CE based devices are perceived more complex than Palm OS and hence lag in sales and market share.

Also page 2A talks about networking at home and Forrester estimates sales to hit $1 billion this year with the majority to be spent on hubs and network interface cards. 3COM is mentioned as one that would easily capture over 60% of the market share given that its products are the lowest price in comparison to other manufacturers i.e Cisco, Bay and Assend.

1999 and 2000 will be banner years for 3COM and expect its stock price to exceed $100 according to the article.
