Mary, Mary, Vietnam was a side show. The main enemy was The Evil Empire, The Soviet Union. Some of us had to play poker, pass out in gasthauses, try to figure out how many DM 20 hookers we could afford for $20, and take wine tours of Germany and France to keep the Russkies on their side of the border. <G> Seriously, the Army sent me to full immersion language school for a year to learn Russian and to spy school for 4 months after that. They weren't going to waste all that expensive training by sending me to a rice paddy where nobody govereeted po Russkie. As they did half of my classmates. <G> BTW, we were instrumental in protecting the western world when the tanks hit Prague, which was serious stuff, especially for those of us who were on the wrong side of the border at the time.
