Mike, I'm not in the software business either. Since the new software is industry specific, it would probably take lots of different interviews with users to determine whether or not it is a real advance. I do believe that the vision is correct, and that the ancillary products , data base buildup, and the dominance of the www means that the time is right for this product. BTW, it is much more than SFA.
Tom Siebel is actually bragging about how the new software is salesperson friendly and the old ones weren't. See an interview..

Since Siebel99 sales haven't shown up in revenue yet, a couple of quarters will tell the story. Meanwhile the strength of SEBL in a sagging tech market is very encouraging. I bought more yesterday.
Could I be wrong? Yes. But how often do we get a chance at a possible gorilla at this early a stage? It only takes one to make you financially secure for life. The only reason that the price isn't higher is because of fear of SAP and ORCL. Personally, I think these companies are to big to reinvent themselves in time to dominate this market. The old ways of doing software won't work in this market.
