Don't know if this will help, but I have a basic criteria I use before I even put a stock into my data base.......

The long term debt cannot exceed 30% of shareholders equity.
Also, there should be enough cash on hand to cover short term debt.
I also tend to disregard stocks that do not trade at least 50,000 shares per day.

These criteria tend to keep alot of the junk stocks out of your database.
