Jack Morgan questions about I*/G*. Any techies care to reply?

Regarding building penetration by the two systems, it has been my understanding that Iridium has a higher link margin than Globalstar, and that would make in-building penetration by Globalstar something of a problem, though I doubt many people will use either system in that fashion.

Here's a question for anyone to answer: I've been told that Globalstar's system uses different bands for uplink and downlink, and that the downlink band is commonly known as a "trash" band and can interfere with, or be interfered with by, such transmissions as taxi cab radios and medical electronic equipment in hospitals; interfering with radio astronomy sites is also a problem for Globalstar, one which Iridium has dealt with. Does anyone have information that would shed light on this?
