>>As the backup nt is a utilited OS web access might be considered essential. I don't see a word processor and spreadsheet as utility apps.
My feeling exactly. Backup requires essential tools to recover data and recover primary. Web access is a heavy duty tool for this. Notepad works for editing configuration files and comes with the territory.
ZP has a back up environment in mind, it looks like. Sort of a summer place, fitted out sparsely, maybe, but fitted out. I have a place I don't wanna be unless I hafta in mind. More like the tool shed way out back. It's all in your point of view, I guess.
I can even argue against your favorite video driver, mouse driver, sound driver. Among other things, if you change your configuration, having these things will cause more trouble than their absence in the long run. I'd maybe make an exception for the video driver (he says, with a flaming headache, having stared at VGA at 640x480 @ 60hz all day long).
But you have to have your modem/nic/whatever configured and your web connection parameters configured, AND your bookmarks and all your site logons and passwords, or you better have all this in a nice safe place where it's available, and that's NOT in the dead OSs registry unless you want to become an instant expert. |
