Don't know much about the satellite business. However, when I worked at Motorola years ago, there was talk with the I* planning folks that they were going to charge $3/min and still manage to get profitable. Since then, manufacturing costs, etc. have declined significantly - so, I wouldn't be surprised if they can manage a lower price. Also, the audience they are targeting in the 1st world countries won't blink at $3/min. In the 3rd world countries, they are aiming for the wireless local market. As long as things are fixed there, their can afford lower rates.

Don't know much more/haven't given this market much thought since it's still around the corner.
